My daughter bought my hubby a book entitled "1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die" for his birthday. The book lists novels by pre-1700, 1700's, 1800's and 1900's and gives a short synposis of each book Needless to say, we have a lot of books to read. We got started this week - I'm reading "To Kill a Mockingbird" which I have seen the movie but not read the book (I know - that is sad), and I am really enjoying it and my hubby is reading "Gulliver's Travels". The new book is motivating us as well as it is a nice coffee table book. What is your favorite classic novel?

I love this idea... I think I'll have to pick up that book myself. Here are some of my classic faves:

wow I cant beilive you have not read to kill a mockingbird( It was required reading in the ninth grade at my school) great book! Another great classic is Kerouacs On The Road ( I did my college theisis on the book) But...my favorite of all times is The Catcher In The Rye. I read it in the ninth grade and about 4 times again after that! As you can tell I love to read, I am an editor for a major magazine, and I credit a lot of my knowledge to the great classics I read growing up.
