Violin. A beautiful instrument. My daughter started with piano and then violin and my son took a few piano lessons and then moved to trumpet. We felt that it was an important part of their raising to be introduced to music. Alas, they both always enjoyed sports more though!
My son-in-law plays the violin brilliantly. He gives violin lessons in the Kansas City Missouri area. He also plays the electric violin in a band called Ross Christopher and the Familiar Voice. If you know anyone looking for violin lessons for their children, contact him and tell him his mother-in-law sent you! http://www.theviolinstudio.blogspot.com/, http://theviolinstudio.net/
