We worked on our yard and flower beds on Memorial Day. We try to keep it fairly simple. Here is a picture of a cicada on our flowers. They are everywhere and make so much noise.
We bought mulch and put that in the flower beds to help with the weed growth.
I need to buy a few more flowers to add to some pots for color in the front flower bed. Also, maybe a hanging pot for the porch.
It was a beautiful day and fun to work outside. After all the rain and storms we've had, it was a nice reprieve.
Here are a few more pictures of our flower beds. We have a lot of hostas and they are really doing well this year. When they do well, they are so low maintenance.
Now to find a way to keep the dogs out ...

Anniversaries
Celebrating anniversaries together. My hubby's sister and husband having brunch with us at Les Bourgeois in Rocheport, MO. It is a beautiful restaurant overlooking the Missouri River. Their anniversary is a few days prior to ours. Good food and catch-up time. They are grandparents of two boys and we are grandparents of two girls, so many stories to share.

Turkey Hunting
Several weeks ago Cora and Olive visited Papa while he was turkey hunting and they went mushroom hunting. Papa and his friend Gary did get turkeys and they were very happy and proud.
Cora put on her boots and she was ready to go. She had been talking about this for weeks. They were very surprised to find so many mushrooms. They didn't even pick them all because they ran out of space in their containers.
The mushrooms were sliced and fried along with the fish for the evenings meal. So good.

Outdoors
Cocoa and Gatsby, two of our three labs, posing for the camera. Sometimes hard to get a good picture of them because they are always on the move. I think they thought I might have had some food for them!
Took a few pictures of the pretty flowers in my yard. I tried to get a picture of a cardinal, but didn't get a great shot. I will have to keep working on that.

Saving and Discounts
I do love to save money. I cut out coupons, I go garage saling, I use discounts and free shipping codes when shopping online. Just last week I bought a photo book through Shutterfly and found a free shipping code online. I also found a 50% off third item bought from Chadwick's after I had already decided to buy three items. Love it.
Here are a few blogs that I have recently located that tells about a lot of great deals. I have already scored a free chicken salad sandwich from Arbys and a $1 off a frozen strawberry lemonade from McDonalds.

Happy Mother's Day
Happy Mother's Day. Here are a few pictures of my favorite mothers!
The first picture is my mother before she was a mother (I think)! I love the black and white photos.
The next picture is my mother-in-law from her earlier years. They look like they both are wearing similar necklaces.
Both have been great examples for me as I became a mother and raised my children. Now they are both great-grandmothers and enjoy the time they spend with the next generation.
The last picture is of my daughter and her family. She is doing such a great job raising her girls. Both girls are so much fun to be around and it is because she and her husband are raising them so well.
Thank you Lord for godly women in my life.
