Turkey Hunting

My husband has been turkey hunting a couple hours away on his uncle's property.  A couple of friends came in from Indiana and they have a great time hunting, camping, fixing fence and mushroom hunting.

The ladies of the family (daughter, granddaughters, MIL and myself) went down for a visit for the annual fish fry. Our friends from Indiana bring the fish and they fry the fish and potatoes in a deep fryer.  Tastes great, and I'm not even a really big fish eater.

Little Olive is enjoying the beautiful weather with papa.  Cora enjoys a ride on papa's neck.  She loves that.  They are headed out to search for mushrooms.

Once Cora was shown what a mushroom looked like, she quickly found several.  She was excited to go mushroom hunting with papa.

Pillow Covers

Using same material for these pillows that I used on the footstool.  I have made three pillows and have one more to make.  After that, I will be looking for some foam that fits the size of my piano bench and then will cover it with this same material.  I will still have quite a bit of material leftover after all of this.  Not sure what else I will make with this material.

Tonight I have been baking cookies - Snickerdoodles.  I will be freezing these cookies to have ready for my dad's 80th birthday party we are having in a month.  Hopefully they freeze well and taste good.  They sure do taste good tonight!  I only had one -- I swear!

New Look

I am changing the look of my website, so it will take me awhile to get my blog links back up and to post again.  I just wanted to find something a little bit more interesting to look at on the blog.  I will be back blogging soon.

Foot Stool DIY

I bought this footstool at a garage sale last year. The top opens and there is a storage area underneath. I bought it wanting to try my hand at reupholstering.

Last Saturday I found material at a garage sale that I really liked and decided to use it for this project. The material was actually drapes, but I'm cutting it up for my living room. I also plan on making three pillows for my chairs and possibly a piano bench cushion.

There are several locations on the internet to walk you through the reupholstering. I googled several sites that helped me, especially with the corners.

I love finding material at garage sales. I always seem to find something to do with the material.

Easter Bunny

The Easter bunny showed up to help decorate the bunny cake. Cora enjoyed putting the jelly beans and gumdrops on the bunny's tie. My daughter added the bunny's face while Kristopher (my son) and Ross (SIL) looked on. Making the bunny cake was a fun Easter activity.

To the right is the finished product. Chocolate cake with white icing and coconot on top. Fun times.

In Out of the Rain

Gatsby sitting comfortably in out of the rain. Of course she does have a doghouse! Probably can keep an eye on the squirrels better from here.

More Children's Museum

A few more pictures from the Children's Museum in Indianapolis. Cora calls museums, BIZ (spelled out). We are not sure why, but that took awhile to figure out what she was talking about!
This was such a cute chair for Olive to sit on. She needs one like that in her room. She is really doing a good job of sitting up.

The Museum had a location for infants to play as well. This area was for 0-9 month children.
