Fredbird

Before we headed to our weekend getaway, we attended a St. Louis Cardinals game. The first game after the All Star break. Here my hubby, Cora and Fredbird pose for a picture. Cora is not quite sure about Fredbird!

Last night we stayed up way too late watching the Cardinals go into extra innings to beat the LA Dodgers.

Go Cardinals!

Antiquing Getaway

We ventured out and about Ste. Genevieve checking out each and every antique store that was open. Some of their stores only opened if the owner felt like showing up!

The first store had many little trinkets and stuffed to the brim! I had several items that I was keeping my eyes out for. This day I was looking for glass cake stands, glass dessert plates, and cow bells. Mostly, I enjoy reminiscing.

Just a few miles south of Ste. Genevieve was the town of St. Mary and they had a very large Antique Mall. We walked our legs off!

While I looked from booth to booth, I happened upon the doll of my childhood. My grandmother had this doll and all the granddaughters loved to play with it when we were there. I always called it the Kissee doll. When you push her arms together, she makes a kissing sound. I only took a picture of the doll though because it cost $150! Maybe I'll find it again one day at a lower price.

We had a very fun day and I had visual overload from all of the booths that I looked through.

The next day we went golfing. Antiquing is my sport and golfing is my hubby's! My next post will be about our fun golf outing.

Bed & Breakfast

My hubby and I stayed at our first Bed & Breakfast in Ste. Genevieve, MO. This is a historic french colonial village on the Mississippi River. This laid back town is one hour south of St. Louis. We stayed at the Inn St. Gemme Beauvais in the Garden Room. Last Friday evening we went to a Cardinals game in St. Louis and then drove down to the Inn.

Our bedroom was really cute and comfortable and really nice bathroom/shower attached to the room. The room had a TV/DVD player mounted in the corner so we were not really back in the 1700's!

The breakfast was fabulous. We had six different options to choose from and I chose French bread the first morning (which was their specialty with stuffed cream cheese and strawberry glaze on the top) and scrambled eggs and bacon on the second day.

The Inn also had tea at 2 p.m. and wine at 5 p.m.

We enjoyed our first stay at a Bed & Breakfast. The cost is more than we would have paid at a hotel, but we wanted to experience a B&B and are glad we did.

While in Ste. Genevieve we antiqued and golfed. I will be posting soon about those fun times.

Better Late ...

Finally pictures from 4th of July.

We are at some friends' homes in these pictures. Appetizers at one home and then BBQ at another before the fireworks.

Cora is growing up so fast. She is 18 months now. She is a joy and we are having so much fun with her when she visits. If you look closely, you will also see my new granddaughter, Olive Mae, that my daughter is expecting! We're very anxious for her to join in on all of the fun!

All Star Game

The All Star Game is tonight in St. Louis Missouri. Go St. Louis! This whole weekend there have been a lot of activities in downtown St. Louis. Too bad I don't have tickets for tonight's game ... I guess in front of the TV will have to do.

Albert Pujols is batting 4th (cleanup) tonight for the National League. He is a great player and a credit to the Cardinals team. USAToday ran a great article about Albert (follow this link) telling about his personal and game values. He is a definite role model.

My hubby and I are going to the Cardinals game this Friday with family. They will be playing the Arizona Diamondbacks. Hopefully will be a good evening for a win! We are also going on our annual Golf/Antiquing outing (2nd year). We will be staying at a Bed and Breakfast and enjoying a small Missouri community. I'm looking forward to our time away together and maybe I'll find some great antique finds.

Antiquing Find

I went antiquing this weekend with my daughter, her MIL, and friends. So much to look at - total visual overload! My big find, believe it or not, is this toy squeeze dog!

This is a Mobley Toy that I have been searching for quite a while. Why, you say? Because this is the toy dog that my grandmother had when I was growing up. Loved playing with it (tear). An added benefit - my granddaughter loved playing with it when I brought it home. Fun.
