Go MIZZOU!

Missouri football is #1 in the BCS & AP Poll. Go Tigers! What an exciting game on Saturday. KU #2 vs. MU #4. Mizzou pulled out the win over KU. The final score was 36-28. We had a great time watching the game and snacking throughout the game. We had Rotel, chips, spinach and artichoke dip, and Moose Munch from Harry & David. Love that Moose Munch.

Next Saturday Mizzou will be playing Oklahoma for the Big 12 Championship. We lost to Oklahoma earlier in the season so we'll let them have that one and we will win this one! The game is at San Antonio. We need to win this game to stay #1 in the Nation. Chase Daniels, Mizzou's quarterback is awesome, and I know he and the rest of the team will take us to this victory.

What should we have for snacks for the game? Hot chicken wings? Veggie tray? What is your favorite game day foods?

Stuffing Recipe

This is the turkey stuffing recipe I promised:

Saute the following
4 T butter
2 ribs of celery, thinly chopped
1/2 t dried rubbed poultry seasoning
1/2 small onion, chopped
1/2 c dried cranberries
1 medium apple chopped with peeling (Gala)

Combine this with 2 cups corn bread stuffing after the above mixture has cooled. Place stuffing in cavity of the neck under skin and under the bone of the breast distributing evenly.

This really tasted great and you don't need to worry about having this stuffing inside the bird because there is no eggs or milk in the recipe.

Seven Random Facts:
  1. I don't finish the food on my plate. If it is a sandwich, I always leave a corner of the bread.
  2. I'm a picky eater. Comes from my parents not making me try things because they were wore out with this from my brothers prior to me.
  3. I'm currently studying Daniel in my weekly Bible Study. This study is kicking my behind!
  4. I have made a list of "100 things to do before I die". So far I only have 43 on my list. I've got to come up with some more ideas.
  5. I've been in every state but two. They are Delaware and Alaska.
  6. I have osteoporosis. I'm young for this but it is in my genes. I'm exercising and taking meds to keep this at bay.

Mudding

Aren't these fun? This should keep me well away from the mud and muck. Gardening, feeding the dogs, raking leaves, etc. My daughter bought these for my birthday. So cute! I'm going to have to think of other places to wear them as well.

I cooked a turkey yesterday with a new stuffing recipe. The turkey was on sale and I wanted to try this new recipe, so turkey sandwiches this week. The stuffing turned out really good. I will post the recipe on my next post.

Another Year

Yesterday was my birthday. Not a big year that ends with a 0 or 5, but another year closer. My daughter says my 29 and holding might need to change soon since she is 25!

This is me at about 4. I wish I could remember that photo shoot. That was my first studio picture. I don't think I had another until a Senior in High School.

I'm the baby of the family and the only girl. My brothers think that I was spoiled but I think that my parents just got worn out with my brothers and let some things slide with me! But comparatively speaking to my friends, my parents were very strict.

I look at this picture and think about my new granddaughter that is coming soon. Will she look like this? Will she have wavy hair? Will it be red? Maybe her mom won't cut her bangs as high as mine were cut in this photo!

Beautiful Fall

The leaves are so beautiful right now. I'm not sure how much longer they will have these vibrant colors. The last several days the weather has been perfect.

We worked on the yard today to get the leaves out ... until tomorrow. Our yard is very large with many trees. One good thing is that we don't have close neighbors, so there is no one that expects our yard to be leaf free or worries about our leaves blowing onto their yard.

Leaves by Elsie Brady

How silently they tumble down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done,
Colors gleaming in the sun.
At other times, they wildly fly
Until they nearly reach the sky.
Twisting, turning through the air
Till all the trees stand stark and bare.
Exhausted, drop to earth below
To wait, like children, for the snow.

DVR

We've moved up to new technology. We still use VHS and record TV shows from time to time. Our VHS player has been eating tapes lately so we were in the market for a new one. Before we made that purchase we decided to check with Dish Network to see if DVR might be an option for us. We didn't want to pay a lot of additional dollars, but thought we would see how much this cost and how it worked. We have been long time customers with Dish but haven't recently upgraded.

The new upgrade package would get us a new receiver with DVR that would work on two TVs (we have 3 TVs with satellite hooked up) which would eliminate one satellite charge and the local TV charge that we incur would be included in this package. The new DVR cost us $27 to buy ($127 originally but receiving $100 rebate) and $10 dollars less each month because of one less hookup and local stations included! So we upgraded to a much better system with DVR and will be paying $10 less each month - wow!

They also gave us a new XM radio for our patience in working with them on this deal. It took awhile to figure this all out. I think I would have given them a gift, but hey, if they want to give us something, I won't turn it down! Now we have to figure how much this will cost monthly and how it works.

I'm going to love DVR that is for sure. No worries about being home to watch Greys, Survivor, etc. No more commercials! How sweet is this!
