And the Winner Is ...

Me! Connecticut Prep had a contest. She stated on her blog:

"Leave me a comment with your favorite Spring clothing or accessory item, and you could win a $25 gift card to J.Crew! "

and I did - then she drew the winner and took a video of it, that she shows on her blog, and Midwest Nest was on the slip of paper. Yeah! Thanks Connecticut Prep - What a fun idea!

Planet Earth

Has anyone watched "Planet Earth" on the Discovery Channel? The first episode was this last Sunday evening. It was fantastic! Beautiful pictures of animals, scenery, and plant life. It will be on for several more Sundays. What awesome photography, plus very educational. The topics are: Polar, Deserts, Mountains, Oceans, Jungles, and Fresh Water. What a series!

How Fast Can I Read?

My daughter bought my hubby a book entitled "1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die" for his birthday. The book lists novels by pre-1700, 1700's, 1800's and 1900's and gives a short synposis of each book Needless to say, we have a lot of books to read. We got started this week - I'm reading "To Kill a Mockingbird" which I have seen the movie but not read the book (I know - that is sad), and I am really enjoying it and my hubby is reading "Gulliver's Travels". The new book is motivating us as well as it is a nice coffee table book. What is your favorite classic novel?

Aging Parents

When is the right time to step over the line and insist that your parents listen to you and do what you say?! Or is there ever a time when this is the correct thing to do? My parents are snowbirds in Florida and travel to and from with a 5th wheel trailer. My dad has had a really bad winter in Florida with asthma and bronchial problems. He is in his upper 70's and sometimes just cannot catch his breath. I'm very concerned about him making the trip back home and my brother has even said he would fly to Florida and drive them back home, but I don't think we are going to be able to convince my parents of this. They don't leave for another couple of weeks. Lord give me wisdom.

Bracelet Watch

My watch went on the blitz, so I have been looking for a replacement. I thought this bracelet watch was really cute. I chose two bracelets, but you can add as many bracelets to the watch as you like. I'd like to go to a craft store and pick out my own beads and make a bracelet to either add to this one or change out for different outfits. It's not only cute, but comfortable.

Fun Bags

The picture is of the bags I mentioned in the previous blog. The largest one can be used as a beach bag, the medium sized one as a purse and the smallest as a cosmetic bag. They are fun to carry and the best part is that I received them free with the purchase of the madras jacket. What a deal!

Blazer for Spring

I ordered a Madras Blazer from Chadwicks a few weeks ago and it came in yesterday. Isn't it cute? I'd like to look for a white skirt to wear with it and I already have blue sandals. This would be a great Easter outfit. I haven't decided on the dress that I posted earlier about yet. The bonus gift with the purchase was 3 striped canvas bags that came zipped inside each other. The smallest bag was a cosmetic bag. The striped colors were bright for summer and the beach. I'm sorry I don't have a picture of those right now, but will post soon. On another note -- don't forget to Spring Forward this weekend. One hour lost that I will need to make up with a nap on Sunday!

Laugh and Cry

This weekend has been one of ups and downs. It started early Saturday morning by going to a childhood friend's funeral. Her father was my pastor until I was 14. She and her sister were my brothers' ages and I thought the world of both of them. I hadn't seen her in a long time but our parents have kept in touch over the years and the bonds from years ago are still very much there. The rest of the weekend was filled with laughter. My hubby and I along with our good friends went to "Wild Hogs". The theater was totally packed with mostly empty nester types! We laughed through the entire movie and so did the rest of the audience. Hilarious! Then Sunday I went with some girlfriends and saw "Menopause the Musical". We laughed hard and enjoyed singing along with favorite 60's music with new lyrics. What an emotional weekend.
