Are you getting pumped up for the Super Bowl this Sunday? New England Patriots vs. NY Giants. Personally, I don't really care who wins. Just looking forward to the crazy, funny commercials and a good time with our friends. It is always a good time to get together and eat chips and cheese, lil smokies, chili, etc. Halftime performance will be by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The game will be televised by FOX at 5:30 p.m. CST.
On another note, we are suppose to be getting a lot of snow today! Maybe we won't get all that they are calling for - up to 8 inches. I'm sure it will be pretty, but not fun to drive home from work in.

Movie Night
Saturday night was movie night and dinner with my husband and two other couples that are our good friends. It had been awhile since we had all gotten together with the holidays and us being gone for the birth of our granddaughter.
I enjoyed the movie, "Juno". It made me laugh and cry. Not sure about it being an Academy award movie, but an interesting, quirky, movie. The acting was really well done. My husband wasn't quite as sold on it.
After the movie we went to a local BBQ restaurant. We stopped at Longhorn's Steakhouse and Chili's and both were over an hour wait. Everyone was out to eat on a Saturday evening. It doesn't seem like the restaurant business is suffering at all during this economic downturn.

Grandma & Cora
Just a quick chance to blog. I'm waiting for Cora to wake up this morning so I can rock her and let mommy and daddy sleep a little more. She's doing some stirring.
This picture is of me and our little bundle. I won't be able to wear some of that jewelry very much longer around her. She'll get a little bigger and want to grab my earrings!
I go back to work next week and will miss this little one in my arms. I need to start planning my next visit!

Beauty
This is our beauty! Sleeping like an angel. She is doing quite a bit of sleeping. I'm staying with my daughter and SIL this week to help out anyway that I can and to also spoil my granddaughter.
She is gaining her weight back and is a very good natured little girl. We are all home from the hospital and everyone is doing fabulous.
Well got to run. Cora is awake.

She's here!
I am now grandma! Our beautiful Cora Adair was born January 9, 7 lbs. 3 oz, 19 inches. Mom and baby doing great. My daughter had a C-Section because Cora was breech and all went well. The pediatrician said she was perfect -- I could have told her that! :)
Still checking with mom and dad about whether we'll have pictures posted. For now, you can take my word for it -- she is beautiful!

Devotion
I am reading "Riches Stored in Secret Places" by Jennifer Kennedy Dean for my devotion. The book is described as "a devotional guide for those who hunger after God". I've watched one of her video series as a Bible Study and have seen her in person. Please pray for me during this study that I make it a priority and am open to the Holy Spirit to speak to me through her writing.

Getting Ready
The baby's room is black and white. My daughter gave me the material that was used on the rocker to make a bed skirt. I pleated the skirt and attached is to a pillow case that will fit under the baby mattress.
I used some of the remaining material to make a pillow and used some black material to make another one. I think they will look great in the baby bed. If my daughter is reading this blog post - SURPRISE!
This is the instructions I used to make the pillow covers. Turned out very easy.
Materials: fabric, measuring tape, pillow form.
Steps:
1. Measure the width and length of the pillow. Cut a piece of fabric one inch larger than the width and make the length of the fabric, two times the pillow length plus five inches.
2. Fold the short ends over 1/2 inch twice toward the wrong side of the fabric and pin the hems. Sew them in place.
3. With the right side of the fabric facing up, fold in the right side, and then the left side so they overlap in the middle (adjust as necessary so the finished length fits your pillow).
4. Pin the raw edges and sew them in place using a half-inch seam allowance. Trim the corners and turn the cover right side out. Slip the old pillow into the cover.

Encouragement for Today
Dear Lord, restore to me the joy of my salvation and bring back the strength and hope my heart once had. Cleanse my soul with your grace and mercy. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

New Year's Day Shopping
Just a quick note about my first 2008 shopping! I made a quick stop at Dillards because they had 75% off on their Christmas items. I found these really cute Christmas napkins that were only 38 cents each. Wow! I look forward to using them next year. They'll look great with my new white plates.
2008 is great so far!
