Steven Curtis Chapman
Please pray for his family today. MSNBC reports that "Daughter of gospel star hit, killed by car". This car was driven by Chapman's older teenage son. Maria was the Chapman's youngest daughter (child Steven is holding in picture). Very sad story this morning. Just yesterday the Chapman's announced their oldest daughter's engagement. Lord, please put your arms around this family through this time in their lives.

Memories
28 years ago yesterday. We were married on May 17, 1980. Sometimes it seems like just yesterday. Who are those young people? What a cutie I married! We've had a wonderful 28 years -- what do the next 28 bring? The first 28 years are so eventful: living away from family, new jobs, first home, children born and children growing up and graduating from college, first grandchild and many other firsts.
What is in our future? More grandchildren, traveling, mission work, volunteering, retirement, many things I have not thought of yet. Whatever it is, I'm glad it will be the two of us doing it together. I love you sweetheart.

Good Weekend
I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day. I touched base with all of the moms in my life. We visited my mother and dad on Friday night, spent the night and then traveled to visit my daughter who is a first time mom this year.
Then on Sunday I was on a panel of moms at church where we discussed the trials, joys and the meaning of motherhood to a class of High School students. Our lesson was on love and Jesus' never ending love of us.
After church we then went and had lunch with my husband's mother and other family members. It was a good Mother's Day weekend. I received a wonderful card from my daughter and granddaughter and a phone call from my son as well as a gift certificate to a garden store. So I'm looking forward to picking something out for my yard.
The rest of the weekend I caught up on some of my DVR shows and sewed. I finished a purse I had been working on and then made another burp pad for my granddaughter. We finished off the evening watching "Charlotte's Web". It was a cute movie, but it is hard to beat the animated movie I use to watch as a child.

Zoo Trip
Cora's first trip to the zoo! What a great balancing act! Actually, her dad is behind her holding her up! Look at that cute hat! Very stylish!
It was a beautiful day and St. Louis has a fabulous zoo. Her mom and dad had a great time but at this point, I don't think she was overly impressed with the animals!
Another type of zoo is my son's semester finals! He's almost done for this semester and then only one more semester until he graduates. We will all be happy about that! He will be graduating with a Computer Engineering major and Computer Science minor.
2008 is a great year for our family! A new grandbaby and out youngest child graduating from college. Fabulous!

Getting Ready
My hubby and I are preparing for our first summer trip. We are going to New Orleans and Gulf Shores Alabama with our Senior Youth and Youth Pastor from church. Our graduates along with sponsors choose a location every year and take that last trip together before they head off for college. This is my first trip with this group and I am really looking forward to it.
After looking through my summer clothes, I decided I needed a few updates. I shopped this last weekend and found the shoes to the right at Gap. They had many colors to choose from, but I thought blue would match more of my outfits.
The outfit to the left came from Bass and the bag was from Gap. Besides shopping, I have decided to tan. I'm concerned that I don't have time or good weather enough to get some sun prior to the trip and I am very fair, so the sun will burn me quickly on the beach. I started yesterday with the tanning and just did 8 minutes. This was my first experience with going to a tanning bed. The 8 minutes went by fast and was very relaxing. I think I might be able to fall asleep in there! Luckily, they have a timer so I don't have to keep track of the time and stay in too long.
Anyone know of some must see's in New Orleans with 18 year olds? We only have one day there before we head to Gulf Shores. We are staying at Fort Morgan Alabama and have rented a beach house close to the gulf for the remainder of the week. Beach, beach and more beach for me!
