The baby's room is black and white. My daughter gave me the material that was used on the rocker to make a bed skirt. I pleated the skirt and attached is to a pillow case that will fit under the baby mattress.I used some of the remaining material to make a pillow and used some black material to make another one. I think they will look great in the baby bed.
If my daughter is reading this blog post - SURPRISE!This is the instructions I used to make the pillow covers. Turned out very easy.
Materials: fabric, measuring tape, pillow form.
Steps:
1. Measure the width and length of the pillow. Cut a piece of fabric one inch larger than the width and make the length of the fabric, two times the pillow length plus five inches.
2. Fold the short ends over 1/2 inch twice toward the wrong side of the fabric and pin the hems. Sew them in place.
3. With the right side of the fabric facing up, fold in the right side, and then the left side so they overlap in the middle (adjust as necessary so the finished length fits your pillow).
4. Pin the raw edges and sew them in place using a half-inch seam allowance. Trim the corners and turn the cover right side out. Slip the old pillow into the cover.

i'm excited! and just a note on why cribs need pillows... i'm surprised you didn't post on that! bumpers have been associated with SIDS according to literature put out by the Children's Trust Fund. so we decided to use pillows as the crib decor rather than bumpers b/c they are easier to take in and out of the crib.
the material is so classy. i love your black and white theme. did it just take 1 standard pillow case for under the mattress of a regular crib? just wondering. it looks easy enough. my grandson is in need of a crib skirt. our grandson does not have bumpers either.
being a grandma is the greatest. our hearts have overflowed since our grandson arrived last june.

The skirt just goes on one side of the crib. The mattress does not show on the sides and the back of the crib will be against the wall, so I only needed to make the skirt for the front side. I used just one standard white pillowcase and ripped out the seams so that the pillowcase was long enough to go across the mattress front (about 50 inches).
Oh my!! This is absolutely beautiful and I've got to add very "classy." Your daughter is going to LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!
